The 2022 United States State Treasurer elections will be held on Nov 8, 2022, to elect the land treasurer and equivalents in twenty-seven states, plus a special election in Utah. The previous elections for this grouping of states took place in 2018. The treasurer of Vermont serves 2-year terms and was last elected in 2020.

These elections will take identify concurrently with several other federal, state, and local elections.

Partisan composition [edit]

Going into the election, in that location are 22 Republican land treasurers and 20 Democratic treasurers. This class of treasurers is made of fourteen Democrats and fourteen Republicans.

Democrats will exist defending two state won by Donald Trump, and Republicans will be defending one state won by Joe Biden in 2020. Additionally, Democrats hold state treasurer offices in three states with Republican governors, while Republicans do non agree whatsoever state treasurer offices in states with Democratic governors.

Alabama [edit]

Incumbent Republican Young Drunk, who was appointed to the position Oct 1, 2021 after the previous treasurer, John McMillan, resigned, is running for election to a total term.[1] Drunk previously served every bit Alabama Country Treasurer from 2011 to 2019.

Arizona [edit]

Incumbent Republican Kimberly Yee initially ran for governor, but suspended her campaign on Jan fifteen, 2022, and is now running for re-election.[4] Country representative Jeff Weninger is primary challenging Yee.[iii]

Democratic candidates include country senator Martín Quezada.[ii]

Arkansas [edit]

Incumbent Republican Dennis Milligan is term-express and cannot seek a third term.

Republican candidates include State senator Mathew Pitsch[5] and state representative Mark Lowery.[5] The only Democratic candidate is Pam Whitaker.[five]

California [edit]

Incumbent Democrat Fiona Ma is running for re-election.[half-dozen]

Colorado [edit]

Incumbent Democrat Dave Young is eligible to seek re-election.

Republican candidates include Lang Sias, former state representative and Republican nominee for lieutenant governor in 2018.[7]

Connecticut [edit]

Incumbent Democrat Shawn Wooden is eligible to seek re-ballot.

Delaware [edit]

Incumbent Democrat Colleen Davis is eligible to seek re-ballot.

Florida [edit]

Incumbent Republican Jimmy Patronis is running for re-election.[8] Perennial candidate Richard Dembinsky is running as an contained.[9]

Idaho [edit]

Incumbent Republican Julie Ellsworth is eligible to seek re-election.

Illinois [edit]

Incumbent Democrat Mike Frerichs is running for re-ballot.[11] Firm deputy minority leader Tom Demmer is running confronting him.[ten]

Indiana [edit]

Incumbent Republican Kelly Mitchell is term-express and cannot seek a third term.

Republican candidates include Morgan Canton Republican party chair Dan Elliot,[12] Fort Wayne city clerk Lana Keesling,[13] Boone County quango president Elise Nieshalla[xiv] and erstwhile Indiana Republican Political party spokesman Pete Seat.[15]

Iowa [edit]

Incumbent Democrat Michael Fitzgerald is eligible to seek re-election. Republican state senator Roby Smith is challenging Fitzgerald.[16]

Kansas [edit]

Incumbent Democratic Lynn Rogers was appointed January 2, 2021, later on his predecessor, Jake LaTurner, resigned subsequently being elected to Congress. Rogers is eligible to seek re-election.

Republican candidates include state representative Steven Johnson,[17] land senator Caryn Tyson[18] and Sara Hart Weir, former CEO of the National Down's syndrome Society.[19]

Massachusetts [edit]

Incumbent Democrat Deb Goldberg is running for re-election.[21] Republican former Barnstable County commissioner Ronald Beaty is running against Goldberg.[20]

Nebraska [edit]

Incumbent Republican John Murante is running for re-election.[22] He is facing a primary challenge from Paul Anderson.[22] Libertarian Katrina Tomsen is also running.[22]

Nevada [edit]

Incumbent Democrat Zach Conine is eligible to seek re-election. Republican business organization possessor Manny Kess is challenging Concine.[23]

New Mexico [edit]

Incumbent Democrat Tim Eichenberg is term-limited and cannot seek a third term. Democratic candidates include old judge Heather Benavidez[24] and sometime Sandoval County treasurer Laura Montoya.[24] The only Republican candidate is Harry Montoya.[24]

New York [edit]

The duties of treasurer take been carried out by the New York State Comptroller since the office of New York Land Treasurer was abolished in 1926. Incumbent Democrat Thomas DiNapoli is eligible to seek re-election, and has indicated his intent to do so.[forty]

Ohio [edit]

Incumbent Republican Robert Sprague is running for re-election.[26] Democratic mayor of Marion Scott Schertzer is running confronting him.[25]

Oklahoma [edit]

Incumbent Republican Randy McDaniel is retiring.[27] Republican candidates include Oklahoma County canton clerk David B. Hooten,[28] quondam chairman of the Oklahoma Taxation Commission Clark Jolley[29] and state representative Todd Russ.[30]

Rhode Island [edit]

Incumbent Democrat Seth Magaziner is term-limited and cannot seek a third term. Former Central Falls mayor James Diossa is running for the seat.[31]

Due south Carolina [edit]

Incumbent Republican Curtis Loftis is eligible to seek re-election.

South Dakota [edit]

Incumbent Republican Josh Haeder is running for re-election.[32]

Texas [edit]

The duties of treasurer have been carried out by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts since the part of Texas Land Treasurer was abolished in 1996. Incumbent Republican Glenn Hegar is running for re-election.[34]

Democratic candidates include Certified Public Accountant Janet Dudding,[33] chaser Tim Mahoney[33] and author Angel Luis Vega.[33]

Utah (special) [edit]

Incumbent Republican Marlo Oaks was appointed June 29, 2021, afterward his predecessor, David Damschen, resigned. He is running for the special election. He will exist challenged by Libertarian Joseph Buchman, Contained American Warren Rogers and United Utah Thomas Horne.[41]

Vermont [edit]

Incumbent Democrat Beth Pearce is eligible to seek re-election.

Wisconsin [edit]

Incumbent Democrat Sarah Godlewski is running for US Senate.[35] Autonomous candidates include Fitchburg mayor Aaron Richardson,[38] W Allis alderman Angelito Tenorio[39] and radiologist Gillian Battino.[36]

Republican candidates include activist Orlando Owens.[37]

Wyoming [edit]

Incumbent Republican Curt Meier is eligible to seek re-election.
